An Abused Child

An Abused Child
~~~~
Lost in the confusion
Of a little boys mind
Is the abuse of his father
That has happen over time
Wounded is his flesh
Broken are his bones
Seldom does a scream
Rise above a moan
He doesn’t understand what he’s done
He only understand the reaction of the hand
That lands on his body
Like water hitting rocks on the sand
If he dare to speak out
If he dare to question why
The reaction from his father
Would only give more reason to cry
After the punishment he’s all-alone
In a corner out of sight
Left with the demons
That haunts him through the night
In his mind only confusion
In his heart only love
For he knows no other life
To allow him to raise above
Silent are his words
When he’s asked about his pain
From the boy who wishes for sunshine
But only receives the rain
This isn’t a story about me
Maybe it’s a story about you
Sadly in the world
This story is often true
We could blindly turn away
Pretend that no one could hurt a child
But ignorance doesn’t change
That it’s happening all the while
What will it take for this to end?
When we will protect the defenseless?
Please take a stand and react
Move beyond the guarded fences
These children need our voice
For they have none of their own
They take forward the scars
Long after they’re grown
Lost in the confusion
Of a little boys mind
Is the abuse of his father
That has happen over time
Wounded is his flesh
Broken are his bones
Seldom does a scream
Rise above a moan
He doesn’t understand what he’s done
He only understand the reaction of the hand
That lands on his body
Like water hitting rocks on the sand
Very very well written. Yes it is true that this happens every day and it's sad to say the least. I believe everyone should help out where their help is needed. Anyways, great job.
So positively true....and so sad. A well written poem about a sad state of affairs. Too bad that more poeple aren't aware of the permanent damage this does to a child.
Thanks for sharing this, Jeff...
Hugs
