Don't Be Afraid

|
Standing off in the background, alone,
watching you wrap your arms around
yourself as tears stain your face.
Washing away your smile, replaced
instead with anguish, you turn your
back and push him farther away.
Ignorant of your problems, he feels
helpless, unable to comfort your troubles.
However, when you look up through
glazed eyes, there he is, staring
you down with love.
He is there, unselfishly, with a shoulder
to lean on, and a hand to hold;
for no matter how hard you pretend
to be, he wants you to know he cares.

| i found it interesting the way the sentences fell unfinished until the next line, a unique style which you should be proud of. I love what you have expressed here, this is just an overall great piece of poetry, well done. |
