Twenty-four cuts, now I'm dead

Contributed by DesolantDreamer on Sunday, 13th March 2005 @ 11:39:16 AM in AEST
Topic: self-harmpoetry

Twenty scars
What's one more
Slice the wrist
Down the arm
Blood dripping
Is licked away

Twenty-one cuts
What's one more
Down down down
The blade goes
Red life flows
Down my throat

Twenty-two cuts
What's one more
Swiftly across the pale flesh
Deeper deeper the blade travels
More juicy blood
Flows down my throat

Twenty-Three cuts
What's one more
Over and across
The blade travels
I'm light headed
But I can't stop

Twenty-four cuts
Now I'm dead

I really like your bluntness in the last two lines.
This poem is short but descriptive of the thought process i go through when i self harm...

I like how you repeated "What's one more"...it shows the desire to self-harm, and the blindness of self-harm. I used to cut, but I didn't see that what was "one more" turned out to be hundreds more and I eventually was taken to the hospital because of loss of blood and had to get stitches. DON'T LET IT GET THAT FAR! IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!

--Looking out,
Kara
