Deep in the night
So quiet
It's deafening
Sounds I did not
remember to be there
Like that...
TICKING CLOCK
Suddenly counting
every second away
cars out on the roadway
so loud and obtrusive
each one sounds like it's
coming in the drive
Pacing the darkened room
while they sleep
footfalls echo from the carpet
wringing my hands
listening to my heart beat
in frightened tones of lonliness
Anxiety overtaking me

A very good description of anxiety, and pacing is a good way to deal with it, along with an awareness that this to shall pass.
Very poetic rendition, my friend

a great descriptive and wonderful write, Laura. I know just too well about that subject and the effects it can have on a person.
you've expressed yourself really well in your poem. A truly great write. |
