Before and After

Before and After
September 16, 2004

Nobody shot or stabbed
Nobody notices nothing special
Nobody's watching
Then there's this popping noise

Everybody stands there staring
Staring like they'd never seen anything so terrible
Nobody knows what has happened for sure
A crowd's gathering, excitement in the air

The ambulance is tearing along the street
Nothing there but pain, pain throbbing and pounding
Don't let me die
But they don't let him go

Back in the park
He isn't real, or isn't the same person
He doesn't feel like he's ever felt before
He's waiting for the second shot to finish him off

He hides how he feels
Nobody's going to remember it long
Speculate who fired the shot, whose car it was
What do you know?

this is an interesting poem. it's really well written and i love how you leave it open at the end for the reader. It's just a nifty idea. Nice job.
