What happened to the spelling bees?
The nappy times and climbing trees?
Recess that was oh so fun,
And valentines for everyone?
No longer can I nap at school
I still must follow every rule
Though rules grow stricter, it seems
with classes beyond my wildest dreams.
College looming ahead of me.
Asking, “What do you want to be?
I look back, I was so very young.
I’m not ashamed of what I’ve done.
All my past adds up to me;
Knowing that has set me free
