I hurried through parks in dense pouring rain
It was then that I felt , a sorrowful pain.
A chequered heavy , wet brown coat,
memories gone by in eyes remote.
A moss covered, weatherbeaten seat,
dwelling to a life , so incomplete.
Nicotine yellow on the digits of hand,
owner without purchase,to this piece of land.
Medicinal purpose , in the torn plastic bag,
hand outwardly stretched,in persuasion for fag.
He nervously nodded as I walked by ,
producing a solitary tear in my eye.
Continuing on I began to pray ,
for the homeless man I met today .
