Coffee break

Contributed by SlimStaple on Thursday, 10th March 2005 @ 09:18:18 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Tastes I don’t care much for
Slide down my throat as I sit on leather couches
Rain dripping from the sky outside
No one opens an umbrella around here

Car fumes slipping into the air
Going full speed through the damp streets
Coffee cups set down on empty tables
Walk away and leave it for someone else

And tell life I am on my break
Press the pause button and let me sleep
I have no time for this anymore
Dreams filled with drugs and green hair

Smoke drifting through my room
I know there are cigarette butts in the walls
Shoved through the waterfall holes
Long before I set up camp

All I can offer is paint covering my face
And white stripes on my arms
These days are all a blur
The run together like blackened water

So tell life I took a break
I slept in late
My car broke down
Let if figure things out on its own

I’m on my coffee break

This is a nice poem. A break from all problems, a break from drama, a break to be free. That sounds like a really nice break. Nice job at explaining that... I am going to go take a coffee break... : )
