Nature beckons
and knocks a soft tap upon the door of my soul
like a waiting, wanting temptress with indigo eyes
and long hair ragged in warm summer wind.
She is relentless loving life,
and as persistent as the tide.
It starts an inner-under ache
and the longing
ebb and flow
a weed
that grows and overtakes.
And so,
when I cannot breathe
I take to the mistress of the trees,
the heroine of the seas.
I break
the terracotta cloak of routine,
Open wide the rusting gate,
and I lend myself
to her.
Once past the harsh hum of society,
long past the road’s end,
my wide eyes are raised
attentive and blue,
my hands dirty,
legs weak.
Yet comfort invades in waves
and my soul is born again.
I hear the siren of the Earth
and
oh how she studies me
how we question one another

Wow.
I feel rejuvenated.
Merely reading through this masterpiece, felt much like the effects of a good meditation.
The feel of your poem, is a little pagan, mainly due to the references of nature and the Siren.
I really enjoyed this piece.
Thank you for the experience.

Luscious and reverent. I have written sireens before - they are quite the subject, in embodiments of nature and such . . .
I think this is rather powerfully conveyed in texture, from your mind to me, here and now.
Much thanks for sharing it.

This is one of your better poems that I have read. I think you know it too. This seems to touch on a very deep feeling within yourself. It has an intimate quality to it, and as the reader, I sense that.
Nature beckons
and knocks a soft tap upon the door of my soul
like a waiting, wanting temptress with indigo eyes
and long hair ragged in warm summer wind.
She is relentless loving life,
and as persistent as the tide.
This is probably my favorite part of the poem. It seems to capture the "totality" of the feelings you are expressing in the poem, and I could tell, that when you wrote this you had a burst of creative inspiration. It is obvious because it is written so vividly, and that is what I like most about it. I really "see" and "feel" what is happening here.
I thought the ending was intriguing.
oh how she studies me
how we question one another
I think the way you ended this says a lot about your personality and your outlook on life. It's something that I cannot name because I do not know you, but if I did no you, I could probably see how this line reflects in your personality.
Be True,
zenmind
