We all had a wonderful time.

Contributed by ForeverAndADay on Wednesday, 9th March 2005 @ 07:48:47 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

We could still see our bodies lying souless on the cold ground.
We could still see the carnival lights against the sky.
And the music was distant, a childs joyous melodie.
We sall our fingers cold and still.
And we looked right at us as we starred up with shocked expressions on our faces.
We sall the mangled wreckage and the twisted metal.
And beer cans littered the floor.
And the smell of summer evenings drifted up to us as we starred on in horror.
And someone, Janie, I think it was, asked me if I thought we were dead.
I didn't answer, as i watched the ambulence pull up.
Men shaking their heads began to gather us up.
And in the last moment, I went back...
And turned my head and sall my friends all lying dead...
One of the men reached me and shouted that he found one alive.
I closed my eyes.
We went to the carnival on Saturday night.
We all had a wonderful time.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
