Porcelain cats, nonsense, and truth(for Half Pint)

Contributed by iodinelove on Tuesday, 8th March 2005 @ 12:13:46 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

There was a softness to her.
The rouge and spittle of her hair.

A hand, over shadow, spreads
illumines and envelops.

I laugh plain air
laughing blue sky
over clouded
blue eyes.

A chip is settled;
a knick,
a scar
is settled
in her thigh.
Her tawny kiss
failing over time.

I sit and stare.
I sleep.
Porcelain cats
sleep in
porcelain chairs.

I love.
I cannot love.
The world is an empty bed
rotted in the street.
The world is a rusting car
housing dead horses
housing dead men.

There is a mad man
sleeping in a dumpster
in Phoenix Arizona
There is a junkie
There is a beautiful young girl
called half pint
dancing on Mill avenue
looking for a meal.

And I am sitting comfortably
writing nonsense on an
eight hundred dollar computer.

Let me tell you about Half pint.
Half Pint ran away from an abusive home.
I guess her father molested her or beat her
or maybe both
i never really asked

So Half pint
lived in an old broken down home
in Scottsdale
she would hop the train back to Tempe
and go down to Mill looking
for something to eat.

They found her dead in some squat
I don't know the details
but I don't need to know.

I never really felt anything for her...
she was a beautiful young girl
who sang and danced for change
while i sat and watched
and drank a four dollar chai latte
while i went home
HOME
and ate steak
and drank wine
and stayed dry.

And you all of you
you are no different
than I

you are the people who throw quarters
in her cup...
and you can say
i would do more
I would take her and feed her
and love her and care for her
but you, like me,
would turn away from her
and in years ahead
write some garbage about
how your life is wretched how you cant find
happiness or love or the strength to go on.

Half pint was the only truth there is.

Very sad, long poem. It is extremely good though... and surprisingly true.
