Fighting, fighting, fighting against everything I know to be true.
How will I survive this life…if it’s not always with you?

Never meant to hurt anyone…that’s only what I know.
But, every day, I wait…will I survive the coming blow?

Guilt, terror, panic; my constant companions I fear.
And yet, God forgive, my heart still longs to have you ever near.

I would do anything in my power to protect you, my forever friend,
And yet, already have I hurt you, a birthday silence, I cannot mend.

I can only hope you know the truth and remember day by day,
This isn’t how I want it…if there was any other way.

So much has passed between us, that I may think words need not be said,
for you to know the feelings and love within my head.

No matter where, no matter what, please cherish us,
for there is and was an us.
We are forever written on my heart,
In poems, long and short.
Words written that were true…words that will never part.

I hold each precious moment close, yet force them deep within.
I must confess, this is one battle I am destined not to win.
Our love so strong, forbidden, still…will there ever be a day
When I can look upon your face, and carry you away?

Though our words are few, our touch but past,
I cannot allow my mind, my heart, this to grasp.
If ever two have become one,
It is you and I, my love…never, never, never
to be undone.
