The Fallen

Upon the field of battle
The sightless eyes of the fallen ones…
Their last thoughts unknown, final breathe, now death
For them no tomorrow, Instead state sponsored sorrow,
Name the price of your loved ones, we will buy redemption
For our mistakes.
Unjustified decisions, by those in power
Men of great valor, laid to waste by the hour
Time tells us the truth, as stories change.
Heavy is the price paid by the fallen ones…
Who’s families’ cries… now fill the skies.
The sun sets … the bell tolls… the day ends.
The check is in the mail.

A good write that tells it like it is. Keep writing, we need to be heard. I have a couple of poems here concerning war if you feel inclined to read them. |
