Patience and dignity.

For hate to be replaced by good
for gins to be replaced by food,
for countries to reclaim their lands
from evil men with blood stained hands,
the child stands waiting..
For love and kindness to prevail
to put an end to misery's tale,
for gentle arms to mend his pain
to nurse him back to health again,
the child stands waiting..
He stands and waits with silent eyes
that look upon a world of lies,
he knows he's heard it all before
the calm before the cannons roar,
but still he stands and waits..
He's waiting for compassion
to rule the hearts of men,
he hopes that it will come one day
but wonders how, or when,
and so he stands and waits..
His dignity could teach us all
to live in peace as one,
until the day that love prevails
his waiting will go on,
and so he stands and waits...
