Grief
|
I see you standing,
Waiting not far away
The gentle breeze,
Blowing at your hair
You wait in silence –
Thinking, dreaming, hoping, wishing
I walk towards you
The mild breeze caring your scent
Toward me
You turn around and see right through me
Your eyes filled with pain
“It’s not happiness to see me” I ask
With tears sliding off my cheeks
You close your eyes
As I drift closer
“It can’t be true, you can’t be real” I hear
You speak with disbelief
I dry my tears and stop beside you
My hands reach for you, and you tremble
I wrap my arms around your body
I feel your body shake my own
You cry but you don’t touch me
“Five, four…” I hear you counting
“Three…” I listen to your voice
“Two, one…”
I see you standing, far away
With your hands over your face
The gentle breeze, blowing at your hair
You weep in silence –
Thinking, dreaming, hoping, wishing
You walk towards me but you don’t see me
You walk right through me and I can’t stop you
I close my eyes
Now filled with pain
“It can’t be true, it can’t be real”
I see a headstone
With my name

Wow...There's so much emotion in this poem. The line repitition works well and the end was great. This is very well written. Nice work. |

Geesh, remarkable. I have not experienced the headstone, but have come close. I see through your words and know I've been there. Good write. Thanks for sharing. |
