No Imagination
When everyone’s out getting drunk
I am home, writing
All High School seniors are out partying
But hate me because I don’t want to?
You are all fools and pushers, my peers
But don’t kid yourself
It’s not you I fear
I do not fear your hold on me
You’re not really my friend if you pressure me
And I’m not true to myself if I give in
It’s not that drinking is a sin
But a killer of creativity
You can’t have fun without alcohol?
I don’t need the stuff at all
I can talk to boys without being smashed
I don’t need an excuse to act a fool
Yet you disrespect me for my decision
Roll your eyes and say I’m un-cool
Well you’re a druggy and a drunk
Who needs life’s High when you can fake it?
Get vodka and weed when you’ve nothing to do
Follow your Shepard little lamb
All they say about teens is true
Apparently traffic lights are there to run
If you don’t blast your music, you’re not having fun
Why go the library or even the theater?
When you can stand across from school smoking cigarettes
And on the weekends you get trashed
And brag about it loudly on Monday
So I seem to be the odd man out,
Angry at my generation
For having no imagination
