I was about ten when I made this up. Just a silly song like kids make up. Written sometime in 1968 or 69
Since most of my poetry back then tended to end in four letter words, I made up this song to appease my mom. I have no idea why is has stuck in my head all these years.

If I had a nickel
Maybe two or three
You know what I would do?
I’d buy a big green tree.
I buy me lots of boards
And I’d build a little house.
Then, you know what I would do?
I’d buy a little mouse.
Then that old mean cat would
Come and eat my mouse.
I’d chop him up in pieces,
And stick him in his house.
Then the dog from across the street
Would come and eat the cat.
Then, you know what he would do?
He’d turn into a bat.
He’d fly off to Ohio,
Then, New Mexico.
Then, he’d run out of blood and
Head for Texaco.
Then he’d take a tour of
Tthe Good Ol’ USA,
And as he flew past overhead,
You would hear him say:
If I had a nickel
Maybe two or three,
You know what I would do,
I’d buy a big green tree.
