Cold Sunday Morning

Contributed by peterdoswell on Sunday, 15th December 2002 @ 08:30:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Cold sunday morning arrives, I travel to work,
past the ghostly,silver,coated birch.
A lifeline of blood, that fights being cooled,
unsightly graffiti on railway bridge scrooled.
Security barriers at the black gates of dock,
the deserted offices, crammed high into block.
I pace the gum layered pavements, tread the cigarette butts, the queue rapidly grows,as impatience for bus.
The guy in football colour, spits his phlegm on the street, angry no doubt at last nights defeat.
I try to take shelter, from the cold numbing pain,on burnt plastic seats,in this skeletal frame.
It revealed much about man,as daybreak was dawning,I saw the truth in the City,on this cold sunday morning.

I thought this was so well written
because your sharp observations
of all that you see created the whole
picture in my head. You have quite
a gift with words!Really loved it!
