She's All Alone

Contributed by lonely-nobody on Thursday, 3rd March 2005 @ 01:04:09 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Old woman sitting in her chair
Rocking back and forth
Talking to someone but nobody's there
She's all alone
There's no one to say her name
Won't somebody please
Keep her company

And the years they pass her by
But there's never anyone by her side
She doesn't know that she's alone
Doesn't notice when there's no reply
Cause the hurt takes a toll
On her forever tortured soul
Making her forget all the
happy memories

The hopelessness is there
Hiding somewhere
She can't let it speak
She's not giving up

Hearing things she doesn't want to hear
Seeing things she doesn't want to see
She's losing it in this world of pain
Won't somebody please
Just say her name

She doesn't want her time to be now
There's too much left undone
So she says her prayers at night
Lord please, just one more day

They found her with a note
Clutched tightly in her hand
Written long ago, with tears that have stained
"When you die alone, you fly alone"
One by one they read it out loud
Silently crying to themselves

Oh and what will they say
When they look down in her face
Seeing the smile that once was
there
Faded away
