Leavetaking

Contributed by ButchCorpuz on Wednesday, 2nd March 2005 @ 08:27:58 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

How do you ease the pain of love lost?
The pain of love that solitude caused
Both life and love you swear to forsake
You sleep with tears and with tears you wake

How do you live through the empty days?
Knowing that you'll never see the face
That always made your heart skip a beat
Without that face, life is incomplete

When the one person you love the most
Leaves you behind with a wound exposed
With the scar of unseen departure
Seclusion's disease, is there a cure?

And where do you find the will to live?
When the pain hurts too much to forgive
Where do you find the courage to smile
When living is no longer worthwhile

They say that losing love is better
For it can only make you stronger
But what good is strength against sorrow?
Can brawn make you last 'till tomorrow?

Love's desertion left your heart shattered
So many questions left unanswered
So much torment for time to expend
Too much grief for forever to mend

To spend every night plagued by your fears
To see each daybreak drenched in your tears
To mourn until the end of your days
Such tragic end when two hearts part ways

But an end is also a beginning
To fill your life once more with meaning
Facing the truth is all you can do
Then move on and start your life anew

Love will come if love is meant to be
It's not something for you to forsee
If there's one thing destiny can tell
"Love is between 'Hello' and 'Farewell'"

Quite an engaging and intense poem...
I like the way it begins with a question.
And inspite of being long, the poem holds your attention.
Also, that it speaks of hope- 'But an end is also a beginning...'

Well-expressed indeed.
