Madness Unwinds

Contributed by Quilted_rag_doll on Wednesday, 2nd March 2005 @ 05:21:18 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

This rope to which I,
Grasp so tight.
Snaps beneath my fingers,
As I slip into the night.

It unravels within my hands,
As I drop to my knees.
Consumed by the darkness,
I drift off to sea.

The sea of my mind,
In which I am alone.
Ripped from my sanity,
Cast on this throne.

This throne of despair,
Topped by a crown of madness.
A staff of desolation,
And a robe of sadness.

I struggle, I fight,
To rip them all off.
The Joker just laughs at me,
The voices all scoff.

I clamp my hands,
Over my ears.
Wishing it all away,
Spilling unknown tears.

As if my tears formed a river,
Silence washes over me.
Engulfed in my nightmare,
I saw what could not be.

As I wake from myself,
I shake my head.
And opening my eyes,
I am filled with dread.

Iron chains hold me,
To a seat of steel.
I can't move an inch,
This is unreal!

But what is real, and what is not?
When you’re a prisoner to your own mind.
Forsaken by your sanity,
Madness unwinds.
