THE GHETTO HASN'T LEFT ME

Contributed by THUGGIN4REAL on Wednesday, 2nd March 2005 @ 04:30:59 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

WALKED THE HOOD AND CLAIMED MY BLOCK
I NEVER LEFT ANYWHERE WITHOUT
MY TWO SPARE CLIPS
AND MY GLOCK
MY FOES WOULD COME AND GO
WHEN THEY FELT MY HEAT
WELL YOU ALREADY KNOW
NEVER PUSHED DRUGS
CAUSE THAT WASN'T MY THING
THERE WERE OTHER WAYS TO MAKING MONEY
THAN TO SLANG
SOCIETY WISHED DEATH UPON ME
BUT THEY MET THEIR OWN
THE WORLD IS MY GHETTO
BUT HEAVEN IS MY HOME
PEOPLE GET ME TWISTED
I HAVE NO FEAR OF DEATH
STRIP ME OF MY DESIRES
AND I'LL SURIVIE ON WHATS LEFT
TAKE MY MONEY
AND MY LOVE
AS LONG AS I HAVE GOD'S SPIRIT FLYING AROUND ME LIKE A DOVE
I'M PROTECTED
FROM DRUG DEALERS
TO MURDERS
I HUNG WITH THEM ALL
I WASN'T YOUR AVERAGE KID
I DIDN'T GROW UP PLAYING BASKETBALL
THE STREETS WERE CALLING ME
AS IF I WERE ITS SON
I ANWSERED THE CALL
CAUSE IF I DIDN'T
MY ASS WAS DONE
I DRESSED THUGGED OUT
WITH THE DICKIES
AND CHUCK TALYORS
YEAH, I'M QUITE NOW
BUT BACK THEN
I WAS KNOWN AS A PLAYER
I DIDN'T CHOOSE THIS LIFE
IT CHOSE ME
I'VE MIGHT OF LEFT THE GHETTO
BUT THE GHETTO HASN'T LEFT ME

hey know what ur sayin. im not in the ghetto here. im in the hicks but theres so much wrong here to. not just in the ghetto but everywhere. the world's a mess but soon well be w/ god and nothin will rly matter. i loved the poem. i heard it as more of a rap than a poem or a song but still it was awesome. isnt it amazing how we can change who we are but still have that little bit w/ us? like u said u used to b a playa but now u arent. its amazing. its like goin thru old pics and seein wow i was rly like that wasnt i? and then u look at urself and u think "what happened?" all in all stupendous write. keep em coming and stay strong!
