Where do the Socks Go?

Contributed by ladyfawn on Sunday, 15th December 2002 @ 01:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Where ever do all the socks go, when your washing your clothes,

They just simply always disappear, and no one seems to know!!

How did they? Are they near? Under there? Where did they go?!

Was there a mischievious thief in the night like maybe a crow?

Oh, where oh where, have all those little mateless socks gone hiding?

A special blackhole for socks at the bottom, where the other one is siding?

Truely wish I would have known before a pillowcase was full,

I would have made a quilt of them if out I'd quickly pulled!

Do they dissolve? Or unravel? Please tell me where they travel!!!

Mostly everyone has wondered this at one time or other,

But she does not know either; so do not go asking mother!

Is there a big ogre sock monster way deep down inside it??

Have they exploded into the universe, or one right there beside it?

Where ever do all the socks go, when your washing your clothes,

Honestly do not think we know since times of greats like Poe!!!

That space and time continuum which socks are now washed out,

Poor jointed part upon my foot will be quite soon worn out...

I asked a friend of mine and this is what she said;

'Maybe they simply self-destruct.' but it is too much for my head.

when you figure it out let me know :)

This is a very cute poem. Check some of your spellings, though. (e.g. your - you're)

I look forward to reading more of your work

Dear Aidan, happy you got a kick out of it and it made you smile lol; you get any logical theologies on the subject please do drop me a note as I have always wondered. btw; 'your' is the possessive noun of 'you'; whilst 'you're' is the meaning of 'you are' which if you re-read my poem, you will see this doesn't fit or have correct meaning.. am off to read yours at some point today.. later,
your writing friend always Nessa

All of my socks are Billy No-Mates.

I bought coloured ones so that I could match them up, but I've ended up wearing different colours on each foot now.

Well done, the poem's great fun to read :)

Hey All..

If I had wanted to say 'you are' I would have.. the meaning would not be the same.. this is a fun poem.. and a serious question of mine, also as I pm'd Aidan, the 'your' is possessive, not; 'you are'; Good grief everyone is ragging on me and thanks a lot Jenn, maybe I will not post here or just not give a care, I'm not an idiot who is unable to see the point made in the first comment; finely taking Aidan's viewpoint into careful consideration, if that is what it is like here again.. well.. Used to be fun on this side of the site.. people were creative lunatics, remember Nick? Wheres he at? Where is Kay? I love ya Kay if you see this, I know your here somewhere lol ..people laughed and saw things as through the writer's eyes and soul, and heart, having insight and love.. I hardly see comments like this as there were before. Anyone who has been here long enough knows what I mean; could be true yes, I've not been able to be on as much with my puter crashing and other things, but I never ragged on anyone and made those ridiculous trails of contempt longer and longer until someone's heart gets broken. Think people and do not rag on an author you don't know. My true friends give me hell and that is fine and most welcome. Even an honest point like Aidan's.. and all I can say is, like you, I write in my own style and flow. My poems are best read slowly, letting my words sink into your soul, the feelings in ones heart.. the thoughts deep inside ones mind. This is also how I read yours, in faireness and honesty, always will be genuine and not make a comment to hear myself talk. {this is not an example lmao} Rant rant.. Well; I feel better now.

Love and huggs at any rate.. and still wondering where those socks go, folks:)
Always Nessa

I thought the poem was great!! You won't believe this but as I was unloading my washing machine earlier today I thought, "I ought to write a poem about missing socks."
:P You beat me to it! lol
