What Friends Do

Contributed by Kie-Kie on Wednesday, 2nd March 2005 @ 01:26:43 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I guess I let you down
When I showed you that I care
By breaking down and crying
When you gave me that scare
Now you all feel worse
And I'm the one to blame
For not being able to handle more
On top of my pre-existing pain
I should have been supportive
For it's what you all need so much
I should just keep staying strong
In your life be a happy touch
I should have forgotten
That you're throwing away what I want to keep
I should have just sat there and watched
Instead of starting to weep
I shouldn't expect you to be there
I'm supposed to be there for you
I should just cry alone
Because that's what friends do
A friend buries their fear for your life
A friend will lie about them dying
A friend will keep all their pain inside
To stop you from crying
All my life I was taught to care
To do just what I do
But it just makes you more upset
Now I'm left without a clue
I don't know what you want of me
I'm trying as hard as I can
To be the friend you ask of me
But I don't understand
I don't understand why you want to die
Why you can't help me stay alive
Why you'd want me to lose another friend
And again take that emotional dive
But I'm still your friend
So I'll do what you need
I'll pretend that I'm not afraid
So you don't have to grieve

This is a very good , but very sad write. I don't realy agree with much of what you say, though. Most of these things are not what real friends do.

awee tears roll down the cheek.. all you can do is be a friend and if they accept you as you are then good if not then they need to move on down the line because nothing will ever change them. They know you care.. it helps them alot.
