Moon & Stars
~~~~
The moon and stars are in the sky
Shining brightly for passers by
And from his room he sees its glow
Intriguing his mind to want to know
Just what lights those big old stars?
And the distance to the moon, just how far?
Do they float in the weightless air?
And do they sway from here and there?
Do cows really jump over the moon?
And why can’t you see it in the afternoon?
Where does the sun go when it’s dark?
And why do dogs at a full moon bark?
Why does the moon take different shapes?
Are shooting stars just trying to escape?
He asks, “can I travel to the moon?”
“Cause I’ll be getting bigger very soon”
I see such wonder in his eyes
As if his heart’s still in the sky
His little mind just wants to know
And when he’s satisfied, off to sleep he’ll go
