Tell us your story

Contributed by SlimStaple on Sunday, 27th February 2005 @ 02:38:13 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

What is it like out there?
With skin spread tight over decaying bone
As you smile at all the lose lips girls that pass

Tell me how it is out there
With hair slicked back away from praying eyes
As you, romance all the young things in your path

Listen to how it is over here
With shattered whispers floating through the air
As we twist our hopes around us to keep warm

I will tell you what it is like over here
With tattered smiles hanging from purple eyes
As we huddle together under cardboard homes

You will speak of how it is
Dancing through your short lived life
Dangling dangers in front of their faces

You are eager to tell of how it is
Leather coat lovers stringing through your house
Alcohol covers smiles hanging in your heart

We do not tell how it is
Howling in our sleep for a better place
Curling tightly under watch of our starless sky

We do not love how it is
Picking a fight over week old bread
Hiding in decrepit trash bins our daily routine

You know the truth and so do we
Your sky is falling and pinning you under
Ours is painted in hues of destruction
But is floating high above our heads

This is one of the best things I've read today. That third stanza scooped me up and I didn't want to put it down after that. Wow.
