To where do you scamper my little charm
the grasses hide your glee
a moment ago you were in my arm
taking energy from me.
You grew away from my bosom quick
the pearlies showing bright
I soothed your buttocks with ointment thick
and prayed for you life in the night.
So fast you dart my teenage son
chase your scruffy canine friend
play your game and have some fun
in a moment you will transcend.
How fast you sprint with your sweet little ‘toy’
is that wedding bells I hear?
perhaps you’ll have a bundle of joy
Pray treasure every year.
So swift I have seen these years of flight
the qualms and pleasures sublime
sit for a moment my shining knight
let my spirit your life enshrine.

they grow so quickly. one minute it seems they're almost always underfoot, the next, you wish they still were. i wouldn't trade a second of it for anything, though.
truly a sweet, heartfelt write. kepp 'em coming.

Coming from a son's point of view I though it was an excellent write, you definently showed the emotion without sounding corny (something I tend to have a problem with)... I too feel like just the other day my parents were taking me to my first day of kindergarden.... now I live 250 miles away from my parents on my own and 17 years older lol.... but make sure your son knows how ya feel, but i'm sure with a poem like that he'll have no problem understanding |
