Grandpa

Contributed by xofireangel27 on Friday, 25th February 2005 @ 02:21:35 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I love you Grandpa, it hurt to see you like that in the hospital, I want to cry, but I know you wouldn’t want me to, so I hold back the tears.

Why did He have to take you this soon?
Why did He have to put you thru all the pain to get you there?
Why did He take you from us, none of us were ready to let you go.

I wanted you to see me grow up
I wanted you to see me graduate from high school
I wanted you to see me go to college and fulfill my dreams

We didn’t want you to go Grandpa
We love you, we miss you, we want you back Grandpa, please come back
We miss your humor, we miss your stories, and we miss that awesome Irish accent.

All we have now are memories that we can’t share with you we can only share them with each other we still want to make memories with you but we can’t.
We can only make memories with the pictures of you.

Grandpa, I miss you, I cry at night away from your son so he wont see me like this, so I won’t make him cry, I know you wouldn’t want me to cry I know you would want me to smile, but I can’t help it, it hurts too much to know that your not here anymore amongst all of us making memories.

Grandpa, you’ve been in my heart since the first time I saw you and you will never leave it.
We miss you and we love you, Grandpa.

...........This poem hit me hard... I last saw my Grandpa when i was 8, and i'm 17 now. I wasn't at the hospital when he died so i didn't get to say goodbye. I don't think i could have handled it anyways. The night he died though i saw my dad cry for the first time.... that hurt just as much as knowng my Grandpa was gone. I went to his grave 2 weeks ago.. and my dad cried then. I tried to be strong and hold back, but i failed. I still cry myself to sleep thinking about him.... Great write by the way... but i'm going to shut up oow i've made myself cry again. I'm truely sorry for your loss, and i thought it might help just to let you know your not alone.....
