Tears

Contributed by Necromant on Friday, 25th February 2005 @ 12:00:36 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Sometimes you shed tears without a specific cause,

Feeling the salty drops slide down without a pause,

And as various emotions fuse inside your aching chest,

Classifying prevailing feelings becomes a burning quest.

But as time progress the flowing tears get consumed,

The confusion slowly dies, at last becoming entombed.

While taking deep breaths to make the hitching subside,

A floating sensation of fulfilled relief settles deep inside.

Still searching for a reason behind why you have cried,

A sudden sense of decorum begins to question your pride.

Shame and anger replaces the peace that was once attained,

Vulnerability in front of others is expected to be chained.

Few people see the real meaning that lies behind our tears,

They promptly judge by viewing how the situation appears,

They're blind to the fact that tears are the real essence of our soul,

Constantly feeding off from our emotions like a raving ghoul.

this is really beautiful, and I really liked your word choice! The meaning of this poem is so true and so real... I might've taken it differently than why you wrote it, but the meaning I interpreted was great! Keep writing! You have so much talent!

I loved this one! Even though it isn't too short, it gets to the point rather quickly, great expression of emotion that most can't put into words.

I am another fan of this poem. I absolutely loved it.. you took tears and put a whole new meaning to them. I could never make something this good just about tears... though i should be able to it is in fact an emotion.. but *Shrugs* No need for me to try you did it well enough yourself. Great write keep it up!

This is truly an amazing piece of poetry. Its written to perfection, flows smoothly and is emotional, deep and thought-provoking. Definitely one of the best I have read in quite some time. Thanks for sharing.
