Come and go as you please
but leave my heart alone.
Leave the center of my gut
my being
and I will allow you to stand
at the window
just watching
knowing you can not get in
and kill me.
I let you visit me
too many times
and when I need the silence
you come calling
like a Wild Banshee
out for blood
my blood.
I don't regret the time we met
but you stayed too long when I needed
to stand on my own two feet.
You lurched around
with your kitten steps
quite and soft
purring to the beating of my need.
Hidden in your sweet paws
the venomous point.
Into my vein
you crept.
