like a beggar scrounging for a penny
i wrack my brain for any why
so like that soul finding only empty pockets
my thoughts grab for what isn't there
agony growls slowly into irony
i was there and you didn't care
i'm drawing a blank
just coming up short
broken-hearted knees scraped raw
how low can a body sink
what a laugh i must be for you
never have i given so much to be so poor
