A Thought Begot

Yesterday a friend of mine was explaining an idea.
A simple little invention. Call it a panacea.
It’s not important what it was but the concept made me ponder
about the what, why, when and how of thought.
Does it ever make you wonder
whether, for example, you and I exist
or,
are we just a figment, a specter in the mist
that emanates from deep inside some crevice in our brain?
I know, the whole concept sounds pretty damn inane.
But, what is “muse” for instance, and how does it come to be
that from the simplest kernels we can create poetry?
Why can’t we explain genious, or talent or creativity?
And,
what in us defines beauty, hate, love, and sympathy?
It can’t be just a brain synapse sending messages electrically.
There’s got to be good reason for our individuality.
On the other hand, maybe I should just appreciate the mystery
And
welcome each and every new day’s serendipity.
I mean, if I don't exist and neither is there a “here”,
what I see and experience I should have nothing to fear.
And,
Hey!
Why in Hell am I talking to you if you’re not “here” either?

| I have to say, I really liked this piece. The flow seemed a bit off in a spot or two, but hey, might just be me. I especially liked the ending. ;-) |
