A Bird Chasing Failure

Suicide
|
close the cupboards,
close the bathroom door.
let's prolong this quietness and pretending.
the shadows jumped out of the trees
while the blinding, passing headlights
poisoned my brain with thoughts
of you and her and
of caring.
the streets are paved with warning signs,
bright lights paraded the museum.
the flashbulbs gave up
on what they were fighting for.
a girl thinking every Sunday night
of stabbing her veins
and taking a trip to the hospital.
the ambulance siren wails
as she affixes a stare on the window,
while everything passes by like a blur.
they held her hand.
it has always frightened her.
the parasol, the curtains, the falling blossom.
a cliche of white light,
gowns, and a cross.
gravity will never provide her of necessities.
it is bizzare how
we all have worshipped,
and yet, we can't be happy
nor contented.
pull down the curtains,
the show is over.

Finally, a poem on this site that breaks the barriers of a simple rhyme scheme and cliche "dark" images. Excellent work, and I hope you submit more. |
