Last Train Leaving

Topic: SongLyrics

Last train leaving, this side of midnight
Sitting in the back seat, my life flashes before my eyes.
Only God knows where I’m going, every fool knows where I’ve been
But as soon as I get there, I can start all over again.

I fought my last fight, swear I have cried my last cold tear,
I had a dream about a better place, and that’s how I wound up here.
I am wearing my whole life, these shadowed bruises I scatter about,
I just might have missed my chance, but there is only one way to find out.

On this last train leaving, this side of midnight,
I lay my broken heart, my troubles, and my pride.
On the floor of this machine, I leave all the things that I don’t need,
And the sun is gonna shine on the other side of these tracks –
Cause I’m not looking back.

Something snapped inside of me, when I loved you but set you free,
To make true on a promise that wasn’t ever meant to be.
I can’t hold my head up high, without you here by my side,
So I stepped out on him tonight, for the last time.

And I’m on the last train leaving, this side of midnight,
I want to be where you are, need your arms to hold me tight.
Sitting in the back seat, believing you can save me,
You are gonna make everything alright, on the other side,
Of this last train leaving, this side of midnight.

your absolutely crazy, or just crazily modest. That was a brilliant poem and like to see something youve written that you think is GOOD!! It works really well without seeming to try too hard. Oh yes, and what were your forbidden thoughts, pray tell?

I think it's great. But, then I'm not a poet so that may not be what you needed to hear. It's good.
