Don't Say Cheer UP

Contributed by hopefulheavyheart on Monday, 21st February 2005 @ 03:08:39 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Don't say cheer up.
If I cheered up magically,
After a joke or a pat on the back,
It would be a show.

Don't say things could be worse.
I'm not moping cause something happened.
It's just there sometimes,
Without reason.

Don't say it will get better.
It takes control.
I can't make it go away.
I can only lesson it by changing the pain.

I know you don't understand it.
For me, sleeplessness and depression
Are partners against me,
Triggered by anything, like the presenter's story.

It's not that my life is unbearable.
At this stage in my life,
I would never end it.
It just creeps up on me,
And rolls over me,
Before I can get back up.

The obsessions of the old days,
Were daily and constant.
So you see this WAS very minor
And will soon be forgotten.

Thanks for reacting.
Talking to you helped. --- I talked to a friend
Monday, I'll be back to normal.
And maybe, it won't visit me again.
-----------------------------------------
It's been 48 hours
And it's still trying
But things need to be done,
So I keep on going.

I've slept a lot
But I can't shake it
I've been held
But it's not enough.

Walking through Meijers,
Laying in bed,
It's preoccupying my thoughts
And won't stay away.

I do not want to die,
Or even hurt myself today,
But it's hard to get up,
My body feels heavy.

I don't want to talk to a therapist
I've been through that before.
More than once I have rehashed
The details of my life.

……………………………………….

It's now 12 hours later
And I'm feeling better.

This is an incredible write. I can relate, as can alot of others on this site most likely. I love how you wrote it... and I hope the 'feeling betterness' lasts.

Take care
