Daddy's Hands

When I was little
You used to hold my hand
But your hands were so big
They covered up mine.
It was then when I wished
Someday I would have hands like yours
All covered with blisters and calluses
From all the work you did.
When I got a little older
Your hands were still big
But they always comforted me
When I felt like I failed.
Your hands could also be stern
When I did something wrong
But when I had tears in my eyes
They would dry them all.
Now I still admire your hands
Like when I was a little kid
But the best thing about them
Is that they are always filled with love
And the love in them will never fade.
