The grass sways slowly,
in the gentle warm breeze.
The light of the setting sun
is gold on the stern trees.
My companion is sniffing,
shuffling and pouncing through the grass.
I listen to the leaves quiver in the wind
as I watch the clouds pass.
They are not a pristine pearl
but violet, like lilacs bright
a flowing pink, like gleeful carnations
or orange tiger lilies, bold in the night.
They float east to greet the rising sun,
But they leave the sunset,
Because his dying day is done.
It is depressing,
To see him creep slowly down to sleep
Or is he just bowing to her, the sunrise?
Perhaps hiding from the darkness; so vast, so deep.
I wait for the first star to arrive,
I wish it would stay this tranquil
I hope mankind will keep her alive.
Because Mother Nature has no sequel.

Well shoot fire, another beautiful piece no one took the time to comment on. I have just read 3 or 4 of your pieces and you are quite talented. I love the imagery. I felt like I was sitting there with you, watching that sun set, the dog bounding around. Thank you for sharing. Peace to you, Laura |
