Jew Child

His dull eyes gleamed
As he told the tale
The tale that
He knew so well
Of love and war
Death and life
Of victories and defeats
About hunger and strife
He loved to share
About his war time days
Even though some
Thoughts were little hazed
He cried more oft
With a small story
Of his times in war,
About a little girl he called Lori
She was a little Jew child
That was so pretty and bright
Always singing always
Laughing at his very sight
He was a soldier
Of the allied army
Sent to keep the town from harm
He tried his best
But they eventually left
And that village
Was left to siege
The Germans stole her
And told her to leave
He later came to that fearful place
To rescue these poor people you see
And guess who he saw
That dear girls face
Her eyes were sunken
No color left at all
She was so small and frail
And her beautiful hair was completely bald
But the worst part
Of all herself
Were her bright little eyes
Were just hallow swells
She saw the soldier that day
And at last her faced revived
She smiled at him
He took her aside
And there,
She laid down and died

I know how you feel, in my eighth grade class we had to learn about this and whatch a video on it that almost made me cry, it was horrible, and disturbing in many ways, and your poem really hits home.
