Closed Circle

I stare around this circle
At faces that I know
Surrounded by so many
And yet I feel alone
So long have I known them
And long have they known me
Though only my name, my face
not soul nor mind,
Nor do they want to,
content with themselves.
Can you break through a group?
Pre-formed though not with you.
I am constantly looking in
On something I will never have.
This Steel Circle, closed to me.
Outside is cold engulfed in darkness
That chills deep within the soul
And pushes the mind
Closer to a steep inviting cliff.
