Burning Chill

Burning Chill

I saw my soul today
It smiled at me in an evil way
Frosted pale were its fractured blue lips
clutching corroded and black were its finger tips

Grasping me with a dead mans grip
the chill of a whisper reached its lips
A single word its rotten mass did shudder
Its hissing breath the death of winter

Feed my hate and feed my sorrow
Fear the graveyard of the morrow
Exhume the bodies of affliction
Lay bear my path to resurrection

Haunted now by the cinders of shame
The murky black smoke of sin did stain
The stone cold chill Of tainted smile
My constant companion of denial

This frozen ground of dead emotion
This corpse of forged animation
Is the haunted ground of children’s voices
Of sad and terrible choices

The blizzards of life have chaffed me hard
Like the scabbing on a pond
Skin on which words dash and dance
Their blades my story of circumstance

I turn from my shadow the howling wind
This raging fire that burns within
Anger and malice are mine by right
Am I a friend of the living or a friend of night

The cancer of snow falling on green
The flower of this life clinging
A fortress against the sheets of white
Still holding still hoping

Peace I will never know
This darkness within continues to grow
The battles that rage within
Are my property my burden

Life passes around me
My journey has yet to begin
A path I now see a path I must take
God be the judge of my mistakes

I normally don't read dark poetry but I'm glad I stopped by to read yours. It's different and and I did like it. Your words flowed and were discripive all at the same time.
