You sit there and blink.
It doesn't hit you right away.
You don't know what to think.
You don't know what to say.
Is he really gone,
Or is this a nightmare?
Will you wake up, turn the lights on,
And he'll be right there?
When it hits you your heart will bend.
It will hit you really hard.
Then people will start to send
All those sympathy cards.
Even though you really know you're not,
You feel you're the one to blame.
Your stomach's been in a knot
Ever since that call came.
You watch the ones you love suffer,
And you can't do anything about it.
You wonder if things could get any tougher,
But the answer is you doubt it.
You miss him so much,
You don't know what to do.
But use love as a crutch,
It will help you make it through.

| i remember when my grandpa passed away....i kept denying it thinking when i woke up it would be only a dream. and i hate that i still haven't fully accepted it, he was my best friend as a child..... |

| my gramps and I had secrets..lol..he was so wonderful..and I don't think I ever told him how much I loved him..this was a great poem.. |
