Breath deep,
the sweet smelling clean air.
Climb high,
the rolling hills.
Look around,
the old beauty,
the little people wrought.
Fairies fly 'round,
shifting the ground,
making it ready for life.
Nymphs shine,
keeping the water clean.
Angels flying high,
making people safe,
keeping this land green.
Beloved home to all,
fresh and clean,
always green,
Ireland.

I am very familiar with Ireland.
I live there. But I am not in love with it.
But sometimes when one is in a good mood
and sitting by the fire with glass in hand, one
casts ones mind back to The Cliffs of Moher,
The Burren, Kerry, etc and one feels better about the Emerald Isle. Familiarity, unfortunately often times leads to contempt.
I do not hold Ireland in contempt, its a beautiful land, but its not all free and beautiful as one might imagine. that can be said for the world in general. we are killing her. most obviously, in physical terms we damage her. but we also damage each other, by our societies ,etc.
Thats enough said.
Excellent piece regardless.
Thankyou so much for allowing me to go off on a tangent.

It's a beautiful writing about a place that many people hold in there minds as an ideal place to be. |

I am from Ireland and am very proud of that. However it is being destroyed by greedy developers who build ugly apartment blocks in beautiful villages and destroy old buildings. If you want a glimpse of what Ireland used to be like you better go fast and you'd better go west. |
