Listen

Contributed by freckle on Thursday, 17th February 2005 @ 10:05:55 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

“Listen to her yell.”
They whisper...
“Just listen to yourself, you’re always YELLING”
"What’s wrong with you?"
The question is unspoken,
yet
rocks my heart.
“You don’t understand.
That’s the problem.
You don’t want to understand, so you don’t listen.”
SO I YELL.
And you hear me.
You may not listen,
you may not understand
but at least
I know you HEAR me
At least I know -
You know - I exist.

Carol 1-31-95

yes, yes, this is how pieces are done. a brilliant piece is worth reading from the first line to the last line. lately ive been stressing endings such as this, because they are sometimes the better ones, simply because they are not as used as they should be. all those endings that say it was me or something to that effect are old and boring, i rather like these more. at least they can differ topics! you impressed me on this one, carol.

Listening is a very important skill very few ever master, yet good listening accomplishes so much. This is a very good peice.
