Remember the flowers
under December's deathly showers
as practicality turns to scorn
garden of eden choked with thorn
With scythe and hoe the strafe
till all is cut to chaff
wildflower chained groan abuse
burned to cinder serving use
Over the roses the wars are fought and lost
trampled under corpse they collect there cost
from the marigolds flows their blood
churning with spring showers drowning mud
Dandelion under melancholy haze begins its wilt
turned to blowflower swept away color spilt
and following petal over sunless hill
finding that we too are gone as time stands still
No longer haunts the hill shadows of war and peace
with the fate of their disease these too shall cease
coffin filled of bouquets pressed to rotting flesh
as beneath winters flower histories lie forgotten

Wow! This poem is just reeking with the feel of death. Nice rhyme. It flows smoothly and your syllable count matches up very nicely! I love the word choice as well its, precise and the vocabulary is extraordinary! Nice Write! |
