We continue.
The open air breathes my breath
breathes the sand
i'm sitting in
breathes my entire life.
My entire life lived under one tree
one tree and a dozen
(two dozen)
houses.
Wooden floors
remind me of my love
my love is a simple
childish act
my love is rage and jealousy
blemished ravaging skin
against the stricken waters
skin
the boiling point
the insignificance
of my loins
burning with passion.
It is not enough,
she said,
her broken boxes
her clarity
misjudged
misguided
following my
silly plans for a future
that could not be.
I spoke love to her
the dusk fell from
her hair her eyes
the clouded sands
the red clay her
fingertips her lips
a color i cannot recall.
I spoke and did not love
I spoke and
I spoke and did not think of her
her love her pain and anger and tears
I spoke and did not love
until today
Three years and I did not love
Three years and I cried
I lied and promised empty
unaltered love
Three years and she is gone
and now i love
I love and is she is there
and I am here
I love and she is
loved and I am unloved
repeating myself
repeating love and unloved
to ignore the promises
the lies
the names i called her
(whore **** ***** *****)
I love because I can do nothing but remember
and live with what I did
I love because I dream of love.
