Begin with silence

Begin with silence.
Before the pen graciously touches the page,
take a moment and breathe.
Let go of any pre-concieved idea of poetry
and write
into the infinite space that stares into your eyes,
that notices you frightenly draw back into the
secluded mountains, hidden well within your ego.
You are lost now.
Continue traveling until the page can't see you.
All is safe here. There is nothing to be asked of you.
Here, you can draw blank pictures of Abraham Lincoln,
of George Washington smoking a joint,
you can exhaust every resource
until you find yourself
.....here.....
.....silent.....
.....again.....
.....with the blank page still waiting.....
but this time with an unexpected fervor,
a mind's glimps into the future
that reveals translucent memories of
fighting seagulls, diving after
watermelon seeds, ripe with
vicious juices and dreams.
And finally,
one word creeps up through the moist soil,
and onto the page,
rich, it is
"I"
And "I" speaks to I
and to you,
and to us,
and to them,
and to humanity,
and to insects,
and to worms,
and to every star and satellite in the sky
that reflects the sun's rays from a
billion light years away into the
iris of your own eyes.
We are all "I", and
we all speak slowly when the winds calm softly,
like the eye of a hurricane when
everyone feels intently, and knows
that the damage is only half way told,
and the true answer lies in the unkown
hours that are waiting to be heard,
but in that moment, we are all
silently connected, each
within our own solitude,
breathing in the same breath.

"we are all silently connected, each within our own solitude, breathing in the same breath" Loved those lines. So true, we are all connected-all one with each other. Very good write. Much peace to you. |
