I sit alone and watch wind-blown
coconut trees growing,
Or rest my head and watch instead
the lazy river flowing.
I search the sky and wonder why
the sun is still shining,
When all around the parched ground
is for moisture pining.
Peaceful scenes etched in blues and greens
soothe my troubled eye
And my mind is prone to rise alone
and soar into the sky,
And seek there to find what to my mind
can be as soothing balm,
Shelter from strife, a whole new life
of peace, contentment, calm.
I know if I find that in my mind
vain wishes cannot encroach,
I can find a way to get through each day
Sans peur et sans reproche
