Prisoner of Love

Prisoner of Love

It was better with you before I knew
That all my fantasies would wane
I had envisioned you as Superman
And myself as Lois Lane

I saw you as my special prince
Slaying dragons one and all
Your heart was so wrapped up in mine
You were at my beckon call

You rescued me upon white steed
Your armor shining bright
You whisked me quickly from my feet
As we rode off into the night

You kept me safe upon the hill
In our castle made of stone
Our gargoyles guarding at the gates
Kept this world for us alone

A gripping truth occurred to me
While in introspective thought
The man you were and had always been
Was now stuck in Camelot

The sun would rise, the sun would set
Day in became day out
In our little world of fantasy
My dreams had filled with doubt

You tried your best to humor me
You were my true and loyal fan
I thought your life was made for me
I had neglected the real man

There was no way now to change the song
The words were set in stone
The only way to live your life
Was to leave me on my own

So our fairy tale did end, my love
When I stripped you of your soul
To live my fantasies and dreams
I had left you less than whole

Sherry, that's a breathtaking poem.

Very sad, but quite amazingly discriptive.

I really enjoyed reading it .
