He lay in the gutter
No more meaning for life
His mind was a blank sheet of paper
He had no beginning and no end
No more of his past life could he take
Street life was his and the gutter his bed
from his eyes he saw
and from his ears he heard
Nothing of anything
He waited for his number to be called
but he had forgotten how to count
So he walked with no picture
as he had forgotten how to see
Those good days were of the past
I noticed that the gutter was empty this day
he had taken his leave
gone to another world
so he could see and hear
and learn how to be a person once again.
