Wanting You Back

Contributed by purecitrus on Sunday, 13th February 2005 @ 11:08:07 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I've been dreaming about us a lot lately,
Memories keep crowding in.
Special times linger and constantly haunt me,
Even though some of them were sins.
How can you forget?
How can you move on?
All of your desires I met,
Sometimes it just felt like my job.
I loved you with all of my heart,
I even gave you the key.
You had it all - every part,
I wish the hurt you could see.
I have new goals, new desires,
But there ARE things the same -
Your life I greatly admire,
And I still want your last name.
I can't move on like you did,
It hurts to think you want me to.
After all we've been through,
How could you desire someone new?
I'm still reluctantly waiting,
And it's been so hard to start dating.
When I'm with someone new,
All I can think about is you.
You said that you'll never forget me,
So why can't we start over?
I wish our potential you could see,
It's not about going back - it's about moving forward.
I feel like everything you ever said was a lie,
And that makes me want to cry.
Take some time to think about us,
Our firsts and our lasts.
For me, four is years is not enough,
I don't want you to just be my past.

I have won and lost at the game of love, have broken some hearts and had mine broken,
but one thing I have learned over time is that broken hearts do mend, and with or without the one we love, life goes on.
sojournr,

it's a love poem written by your heart. If that's sappy, then I like sappy.

well done
